Almost Home!

Sitting in the Calgary Airport admiring the view of city set against the stunning Rocky Mountains.  It's been a long trip to get home.  Landed in Toronto at 10pm last night, left this morning at 7am with an hour in Calgary to switch to a plane bound for home.  Unfortunately that plane originated in Montreal where they had freezing rain this morning.  Our flight has been delayed one hour.  Had a lovely trip but it will sure be great to be home!

Every Christmas, for as long as I can remember my heart has been touched by  The Wonderful Window by Beth Vardon,  illustrated by Charlot Byj.    I believe it was written in the 50's and I would likely have received it for Christmas sometime in the 60's.  It's no longer in print so I hope I'm not violating any copyright laws by sharing it with you.    As soon as the patchwork was tacked into place The angel came in with a smile on his face. On Tuesday, my daughter received her diploma from the University of British Columbia. On Wednesday I was moving documents to my new computer when I stumbled upon a verse I'd copied from a card my mom gave Nicole when she graduated from high school.  I thought I'd post it today along with some photos of my Mom.  Today, is the fourth anniversary of her passing. Because You Know I'm All About That Pump

Here's the bravest thing I've done as a Type 1 Diabetic.  I've written a little ditty about my pump to the tune of All About That Bass and recorded me singing it on my smart phone while playing the YouTube karaoke version on my computer.  You might expect more from a "professional" singer, but it's just not in a good key for me, so the singing's not my best. I guess I could have just posted the lyrics, but I think you need to hear how the words fit the music.  And it was fun! I also wanted to make it clear that "it's all about that pump" for me in my own personal experience.  I'm not saying it's the best way for everyone.  Some T1's don't like the thought of something attached to them at all times.  I know a blogger who took a holiday from her pump and found she could get good control without it and hasn't gone back.  I have a friend whose father was diagnosed in the 1940's and is quite happy without having tried ...
