As I type, the sky is mostly blue and the sun is shining brightly.  I'm very grateful for this golden Autumn in the Okanagan.   More creativity from the Mission Greenway Wood Faeries?  As seen from the lower path of Mission Ridge When the City renovated Bernard Avenue I was very sad they got rid of these beautiful ....grates?   When I visited Kelowna Art Gallery last week I was pleased to see there are still some on Cawston. Walking west along Mission Creek On Friday I took the dogs for a walk/hike along Bellevue Creek to an open area with a picturesque retention pond near the Leung farm off the Gordon extension.  It's a win win because the dogs can chase each other and sniff and pee on everything in sight while I work on my photo skills. This is what I saw this morning from my side deck. Out in minus 5 degrees in my jammies, I felt the cold prickle my skin; damp and frosty, as though invisible snowflakes hung in the air.  I was certain it would snow before the day was out.  Then, less than an hour later the sun came over the eastern hills creating that stunning contrast of dark and light that I so enjoy. Another hour later I was ready to take the dogs up to Mission Ridge and the clouds had pressed in again.  I donned my fleece jacket, wool gloves and a hat. By the time we reached the top of the ridge, my gloves were tucked into my pocket and I was considering wrapping the fleece around my waist. In the spirit of my How Did I Get Here post, I thought I'd share a few of the online places I visited last week before PMC goes back to being just a photo blog. This site really tugged at my heart strings.  What generous souls these people have.   Heartfelt is a an organization of photographers who volunteer their time and skills to give the gift of memories to families of premature or still born infants as well as kids with serious illnesses. If you've been inspired by their generosity and would like to connect with like minded people,  People for Good  is a fine place to start.  They have 209 suggestions for ways to do good, and they've posted a few videos on how small acts of kindness have made a big difference in their own lives.  Their goal is simple but honourable  "... to make the world a better place, one good deed at a time." The past couple of weeks, I've noticed that every time I go past Thompson Farm on Gordon Drive, there seems to be more and more cattle out there.  I don't know the difference between a Black Angus or a Welsh Black, a cow is a cow to me....or maybe they're bulls.  Something tells me not ...and I didn't see any horns.  All I know is they look so glossy and cute sitting there leisurely chewing their cud like they don't have a care in the world.  Still, I don't think I'm going to get into the pasture with them any time soon.

Hit the Mission Creek Greenway again, this time for a lunch hour walk with one of my besties (and one of my beasties) starting at the Spiers Road bridge. Afterwards it was a short drive to Kelowna Flower Farm where I used my iPhone to capture the brilliance of these lime, lemon, orange and pink grapefruit watering cans.     Keeping in the citrus theme, I was surprised to come across this lovely grapefruit plant at the Flower Farm.  Wouldn't you love to grow fresh grapefruit in your own home?
