Top of the Pops

Image
As we near the end of the year the "best of" lists are popping up on radio, TV and websites everywhere.  My blog is no exception....here are the top five favourite Pocketful of Memory Card posts of 2013, chosen by you. Click on the title below the photo to see the full post. Number five is one where I blather on about photography and film.  There's no photo with " Weekend Ramblings ",  just a link to some cool movie shots. Number four is a post that describes some of our trip to Wells Gray Park in August.  It was one of my favourite Canadian vacations so far, and I can't wait to go back next year. Turtles and Trophies

Image
After we left Interior Whitewater Expeditions , we drove to the near by Dutch Lake Resort to make a dinner reservation at The Painted Turtle .  We had looked at Dutch Lake Resort as a possible place to stay but there were no vacancies when it came time to book our accommodation.  Once we arrived, we discovered a calm lake surrounded by trees, replete with lily pads, turtles, fish, and a sandy beach at one end.  The resort looked clean and well run, but the cabins seemed fairly close together.  And right behind the cabins there were about fifty RV's, also close together.  I don't think we would have enjoyed this spot as much as Alpine Meadows and Across the Creek Cabins .  It looks like a good spot for families though. Children were running around, canoeing, swimming in  the lake... ...and picking moose noses. The public beach at the south end of Dutch Lake. Views from the Dutch Lake Resort dock. We booked our table for two a...

Whitewater Saturday

During the planning stages of our trip to Wells Gray Park,  I booked a Saturday afternoon rafting trip with   Interior Whitewater Expeditions  (IWE).  Once there, we planned a leisurely morning, with a  visit to the Clearwater Farmers' Market, lunch in town and a wild ride on the river in the afternoon. As we headed towards town we took our time along Clearwater Valley Road, stopping at a few of the viewpoints we had rushed by earlier in the week.  If you drive up Corral Road near the 31 km mark you'll catch a nice view of Pyramid Mountain . The CV Road crosses three canyons located fairly close together and we stopped after the bridges to have a good look at Canyons One and Two.    Apparently at Canyon Two you can hike down from the edge of the road and walk along the creek inside the gorge. Though the market had lovely flowers, produce and handmade jewelery it was fairly small so it didn't take long to look aroun...
