Finding The Balance

I didn't get around to my tomato canning today...spent some time studying and writing and that was a good thing.  And I'd like to think the universe agreed and sent me a sign.  When I poured some red wine vinegar into my olive oil and left it while I went to get oregano for a greek salad dressing I came back to see this Yin-Yang symbol.  Oil and vinegar don't mix but it looks I got just the right balance of the two.  Perhaps a gentle reminder that the balance of two opposing things can create harmony.

Every Christmas, for as long as I can remember my heart has been touched by  The Wonderful Window by Beth Vardon,  illustrated by Charlot Byj.    I believe it was written in the 50's and I would likely have received it for Christmas sometime in the 60's.  It's no longer in print so I hope I'm not violating any copyright laws by sharing it with you.    As soon as the patchwork was tacked into place The angel came in with a smile on his face. Pearls of Wisdom

On Tuesday, my daughter received her diploma from the University of British Columbia. On Wednesday I was moving documents to my new computer when I stumbled upon a verse I'd copied from a card my mom gave Nicole when she graduated from high school.  I thought I'd post it today along with some photos of my Mom.  Today, is the fourth anniversary of her passing. Because You Know I'm All About That Pump

Here's the bravest thing I've done as a Type 1 Diabetic.  I've written a little ditty about my pump to the tune of All About That Bass and recorded me singing it on my smart phone while playing the YouTube karaoke version on my computer.  You might expect more from a "professional" singer, but it's just not in a good key for me, so the singing's not my best. I guess I could have just posted the lyrics, but I think you need to hear how the words fit the music.  And it was fun! I also wanted to make it clear that "it's all about that pump" for me in my own personal experience.  I'm not saying it's the best way for everyone.  Some T1's don't like the thought of something attached to them at all times.  I know a blogger who took a holiday from her pump and found she could get good control without it and hasn't gone back.  I have a friend whose father was diagnosed in the 1940's and is quite happy without having tried ...
